Like everyone else Premier Marinas enjoy a success story, especially if it involves restoring a classic boat steeped in so much history.

'CAP HORN', an old timber boat taking residence at Chichester Marina is currently undergoing an extensive refit at the marina ready to be used for its owner's as the perfect weekend getaway.

Built in Brittany, France in 1954, Cap Horn is 53ft and has a 6ft draft. With oak on oak frames under the waterline and pitch pine above, Cap Horn was a fishing boat for most of her life and worked out of the port of Le Guilvinec, France.

After finishing her commission in France as a fishing vessel, Cap Horn found her way over to England where she worked as charter fishing/ diving boat. She was later sold on to someone who sadly lost interest in her and she lay idle and unloved for a few years until a Chichester Marina Berth Holder bought her in October 2004.

For the past 15 years or so, this classic boat has been known as Viking Star until last year, when scraping the transom back to bare wood, the owner found her original name - Cap Horn and the initials GV (her home port of Guilvinec) engraved on the transom.

The boat continues to undergo restoration at the marina and you can keep an eye on her progress on our blog for more news on her transformation
